About the group
The group is active, focused and friendly.
We meet in members’ houses on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 10am until noon. The format of a meeting can vary depending on who is hosting it.
We normally begin with informal conversation (in French) over coffee, before moving on to more structured discussion, based on texts in French. These often present contemporary issues or topics of particular interest to the group culled from serious French journals, but can feature a wide range of subjects, including passages from modern or classical literature.
At present, a visiting French teacher conducts our class once a month, and often devotes time to particular aspects of grammar or vocabulary, as well as keeping us up to date with contemporary French culture.
Present numbers are virtually at maximum because the group has outgrown most members homes capacity to host. Nonetheless, it is worth making an enquiry because circumstances can change. Do note that there is also another group to contact: French Advanced (2) please refer to the webpage
