About the group
The Recorder Group has players of descant, treble, tenor and bass instruments and plays an eclectic variety of music, some straightforward and some more challenging! We could broadly be described as an “intermediate” group with players of varying standards coming together to share the pleasure of music-making.
In addition to the enjoyment of playing together we perform at a range of venues during the year. As a group we are members of the charity CAFE, Creative Activities for Elderly People, which provides activities and concerts for elderly people in assisted living, residential and care homes and give concerts 2 or 3 times a year. At Christmas we participate in the St Edburg’s Tree Festival in Bicester, as part of the musical background to this fun community event. Other Christmas performances might include busking for the U3A charity of the year, playing to entertain visitors to Stowe and other Christmas events. In the summer we have played at garden parties and fetes.
The Recorder Group has close links with the Relax with Recorders group. Both groups welcome new members who are able to read a basic line of music. If you would like to know more about the groups please contact Helen or Jo (Relax with Recorders).
