About the group
Betty is standing down as coordinator and Regina has kindly agreed to take over.
We are an enthusiastic group of 10 members who meet in the house of one of our members in the centre of Buckingham every month. we have covered a wide range of poetry from the 16th century, i.e. Edmund Spencer and Thomas Wyatt, to Philip Larkin and Robert Frast and more recently ‘Modern Women Poets’ all in the last year. Usually we all make suggestions for the following meeting, so have time to prepare a favourite poem – but this is not essential. We are fortunate in having two English experts to give us a talk four or five times a year on specific poets including A. E. Housman, Robin Frost, W. H. Auden and a very entertaining session on ‘Sonnets’ where we were encouraged to ‘have a go’ with mixed results. We would very much like to expand our group and welcome new members.
Contact the Group coordinator for further information – details shown above.
