Some old cottages seen on our guided walk around Thornborough – summer 2016
Taken at Banbury Cross on our guided walk around Banbury – summer 2016
This summer we have been out and about for most of our meetings, visiting Thornborough for a talk on the church and guided walk round the village and enjoying a guided walk round Banbury, as a follow-up to a talk on Banbury last year.
We found out that there was more to Bicester than Bicester Village when we were shown round the old part of the town by a member of Bicester’s local history society. Again we followed up a talk we had last autumn by visiting Boarstall Tower , a small National Trust property near Brill and our final outing before the summer break was a visit to Thornton College. We received a warm welcome there and heard about the history of the house and school as well as visiting the little church in the grounds.
Our autumn programme includes a talk and visit to Woburn Abbey and a talk on the Oxon and Bucks Light Infantry’s role in the Battle of the Somme.
28th July 2017 will be a a talk at the Buckingham Centre.
