About the group
Our group has a variety of speakers and outings throughout the year and this year our talks have included The Lenborough Hoard, Hillesden Church, followed by a visit to the church, Waddesdon Manor in The Great War and the Giffards of Claydon. We also ran a meeting when some members had interviewed local residents to record their local memories.
We have had a number of interesting visits – we took the X5 bus to Bedford for a guided tour of the John Bunyan Museum and to Oxford for a fascinating tour of Oxford Castle. We
have also enjoyed guided walks round Fringford , Aynho and Haddenham, with hugely enthusiastic and knowledgeable local guides. Our last meetings before the summer will be a talk on the World War II listening stations in Buckinghamshire and a visit to the Chelsea Royal Hospital (not local history but a trip recommended by another group! )
